Website Redesign • UX/UI • Visual Presentation • Art Cataloging • Brand Refresh

Client: JD Gallery

Industry: multi-media Artist / Photography / small business

TOOLS: Adobe CREATIVE SUITE, Canvy

Live Site: www.Barbieyaga.com

Overview

JD Gallery showcases the personal illustration, digital art, and fine-art projects created by a local mixed-media artist. The previous site was an informal collection of works scattered across apps, folders, and social platforms, with no unified brand, structure, or professional presentation.

The goal was to build a clean, gallery-style online portfolio that allows the artist to present work coherently, support commissions, document collections, and reflect a modern visual identity.

This project included brand development, content curation, visual organization, and the creation of a professional online gallery that adapts easily as new work is added.

Objectives & Outcomes

OBJECTIVES:

  • Create a professional, minimalist portfolio for JD Gallery.

  • Design a gallery-style website that highlights artworks cleanly and consistently.

  • Organize years of artwork into understandable themes/collections.

  • Develop a simple brand identity that doesn’t compete with the art.

  • Support inquiries for commissions and collaborations.

OUTCOMES:

  • Modern, clean gallery-style portfolio.

  • Organized collections with consistent visual rhythm.

  • Professional artist narrative + bio.

  • Brand identity that feels understated but intentional.

  • Mobile-optimized, lightweight gallery layouts.

  • A flexible digital home for future work, commissions, and exhibitions.

Design & Strategy Approach

Minimalist, Gallery-Driven Aesthetic

The brand design prioritizes white space, soft neutrals, and museum-style composition, allowing the artwork to serve as the focal point.

Key design choices:

  • Clean serif/sans-serif pairing

  • Light, natural color palette

  • Soft grids and plenty of negative space

  • Simple, editorial image frames

  • A visual rhythm that functions like a real gallery wal

Artist Bio & Narrative Development

The original biography was fragmented across notes and social captions.
I crafted a coherent, professional narrative that reflects:

  • artistic background

  • influences

  • thematic focus

  • current mediums / interests

  • approach to commissions

This creates a polished, credible presence for potential buyers and collaborators.

Optimized Visual Presentation

We standardized all images for:

  • consistent aspect ratios

  • high-resolution viewing

  • minimal compression artifacts

  • fast loading speed

  • clean thumbnails

Each artwork receives a dedicated page with titles, descriptions, and optional process details.

Commissions & Contact Workflow

The new Contact page includes:

  • structured inquiry form

  • portfolio-aligned messaging

  • simple, professional CTAs

  • optional commission request categories

This makes it easy for potential clients to reach out without friction or ambiguity.

Deliverables & Impact

The redesigned JD Gallery site now provides:

  • A credible online presence for the artist’s work

  • A structured and elegant way to showcase collections

  • Strong positioning for commissions, collaborations, and exhibitions

  • A visually clean environment that elevates the art

  • A foundation for extending the brand into prints, shop pages, or exhibitions

JD Gallery now has a unified, intentional, and highly curated portfolio presence.
The new website acts as a professional digital gallery, allowing the artist to present their work with clarity, confidence, and style, while supporting future growth in both creative and commercial directions.
